(1) Reeds of 100 mesh or less may be examined
on a translucent table.
(2) For medium and high mesh reeds, it is
necessary to use a magnifying (20-50) times
microscope or projector to measure their density
and the value of large reed holes.
(3) Surface quality, can be observed visually or
(5 to 25) times microscope.
(4) Structural dimensions of the reed: working
length and full length, working width and full
width, working height and full height, measured
with a steel tape measure and calipers.
(5) The bending of the reed is examined with a
platform and a stopper, and the unevenness of the
reed surface is examined with a hand mold; the
inclination and torsion of the reed are examined
with a protractor and a triangular plate.
