Daily maintenance: Common defects in reeds you should know and importance in production

   Common defects of reeds include: corrosion, bruises, soft 

pieces, burrs, large reed holes, cracks in the reed teeth, tilted 

reeds, uneven thickness of reeds, broken ties, uneven reed 

holes in a certain section, overlapping reeds, uneven reed 

heights and so on.

   Since reeds have many defects during manufacture and 

use, reed repair and maintenance is a key part of the weaving 

process. If the degree of defects is serious, it is generally 

impossible to repair and use. Reed repair is divided into 

on-machine repair and off-machine repair, which is a highly 

specialized work, especially the higher mesh reed must be 

repaired by professional reed repairers. After the use of 

steel in the use of high grade gasoline should be used to the 

sundries in the reed, oil rinsing, while checking the quality 

of the reed whether there are any defects, and make a good 

mark. Then evenly apply antirust oil on the reeds, and keep 

them sealed by oil-sealed paper and special plastic bags.
