The function of a selvedge mechanism.

2. Improve the reliability of the warp thread catcher.
3. Make the edge of the fabric easy to cut neatly.
Adjustment of weaving edge mechanism.
1. Configuration requirements for selvage
(1) Selvage is divided into left selvage and right selvage, with different configuration requirements that should be treated differently.
(2) The selection of metal wire used in selvage: It is advisable to choose stainless steel wire with higher tensile strength. The wire diameter should be consistent, and mixing of thick and thin wires is not allowed. The diameter of the selvage metal wire should be slightly larger than the metal wire diameter, generally one to two wire gauges larger.
(3) Selection of number of selvage metal wires: Left selvage is (6-10) wires, right selvage is (10-14) wires. The number of selvage wires is even, odd numbers are not allowed.
(4) The arrangement density of selvage metal wires: The arrangement density (piercing density) of selvage should be at least half as sparse as the weaving density of the mesh, and the arrangement density of left selvage should be less dense than that of right selvage.
(5) The judging principle of whether the arrangement density of selvage is reasonable is that the warp and weft tension of the selvage fabric should be less than that of the metal mesh, and its selvage position is usually biased towards the front of the metal mesh selvage position.
(6) The distance between selvage and mesh edge leaving: Left selvage leaves (8-10) mm, right selvage leaves (10-20) mm. Excessive distance can cause wastage of wire materials.
(7) Left selvage metal wire can be threaded onto the main shuttle, or onto the left selvage shuttle, while right selvage metal wire must be threaded onto the right selvage shuttle and cannot be threaded into the main shuttle.
(8) When weaving plain weave mesh, the plain weave selvage cam must be used; when weaving twill weave mesh, the twill weave selvage cam must be used; when weaving satin weave mesh, the plain weave selvage cam must be used.
2. Adjustment of selvage opening height
(1)The adjustment of selvage opening size is achieved by changing the connection position of the selvage lever on its treadle. If the connection point is far from the treadle axis, the opening height increases; otherwise it decreases. The selvage opening height should be greater than that of the main shed, and the opening position should be consistent with the main shed.
(2) Adjustment of selvage opening upper and lower warp positions: Changing the installation position of the selvage warp in the lifting shaft can adjust the upper and lower warp positions.
(3) Requirements for selvage position adjustment:
1) When the selvage is levelled, the heddle eye should be on the straight warp position, which can ensure that the tension of the upper and lower warps of the selvage is consistent after opening, and the selvage weaving position can be stabilized.
2) The selvage should be as close to the weaving position as possible, and care should be taken to avoid collisions.
(4) Adjustment of selvage twisting time: Changing the installation position of the selvage treadle cam on the treadle shaft can adjust the selvage twisting time. The twisting time of the left selvage should be consistent with the main twist time, while that of the right selvage should be much earlier than the main twist time. When the heald hooks catch the weft and move to the right, and the heald hooks leave the right side of the warp (about 300-400mm), the right selvage should be levelled.
