4. Adjustment of the mounting position of the treads on the heald shaft: 4 treads are mounted on the heald shaft, which are divided into 2 groups (the 2 nearest treads to the wall panels on the left and right are one group, and the 2 nearer to the center are the other group). When weaving plain nets, only 1 set of treadles is sufficient, when weaving twill nets, 2 sets of treadles are used. Adjust the position of the treads on the heald spindle as follows:

(1) Hand-reel the loom. Move the reed seat to a position 20mm from the weaving opening (i.e. the crankshaft is turned to the 315° angle position).

(2) Loosen the top wire of the first set of tread plates, one by one, make the first set of 2 pieces (left and right) tread plates turn to the opening flat position, that is, when the adjacent 2 tread rods of the first set of tread plates are in the horizontal position, tighten the top wire on the left tread plate and right tread plate of the first set. This completes the adjustment of the mounting position of the first set of treads structure.

(3) Based on the gear ratio of the drive gear at the left end of the crankshaft to the step-healer shaft's large gear, make adjustments for the mounting position of the second set (left and right) of step plates on their shafts.

    If the crankshaft drive gear has 44 teeth and the treadmill gear has 88 teeth and the handloom is running in the forward direction, the crankshaft is turned through an angle of 180°, then the treadmill shaft is turned through an angle of 90° and the machine is shut down. If the crankshaft drive gear is 24 teeth and the treadle shaft gear is 96 teeth, run the handloom in the forward direction so that the crankshaft turns through 360 (one week's turn), at which point the treadle shaft turns through a 90° angle and stops the machine. Loosen the top wire on the second set of left and right treadle, one by one, make the second set of treadle turn to the opening flat position, and then tighten the top wire on the treadle to complete the second set of treadle mounting position adjustment.

    After the two sets of treadle mounting positions have been adjusted, the hand loom should also be inspected to check for any incorrectness. Plain nets should be observed for 2 revolutions of the crankshaft; twill nets should be observed for 4 revolutions of the crankshaft.
